Lamorbey Park Archers

Twilight and Fish Supper Shoot Results
25 July 2009

(An unofficial record by BAC Tournaments)

‘Twas a fine evening.  The gnats weren’t biting but the flying ants were causing mayhem among the archers that gathered for what Len likes to call “The Fish and Chip Shoot”.  This was Lamorbey’s annual fish and arrow fest, which is always held on a Saturday evening during the summer.

Bromley was well represented with a total of eight archers, although a few of us were dubious that we’d been included due to the exotic spellings of our names.

Not only were we well represented but we also came away with three medals.  Chairman George Gard gave all opposing longbows a pasting by winning gold, with a total of 160 points.  In the Ladies Recurve, Helen Jeory (who has always suffered with a misspelt and mispronounced name) came second with total of 299; and Jean Eastgate (who’s name you wouldn’t think that difficult but has resulted in the odd error) third with 212.

A special mention must go to Vicci Flack who achieved a grand score of 346 using her compound and, as usual, no sight.  If she got herself a sight she’d be unstoppable.

We also managed to win a few prizes in the raffle and all got the right if rather tardy fish and chips (which were better than last year’s) or alternative pie or sausage.  Tin wins the prize for fastest eater with an asbestos mouth.  The film title “Gone In 60 Seconds” could have been written for him.

Well done to all who attended and expect to see some of those raffle prizes at BAC’s next competition!
